Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and
relaxation as well as promoting healing. The name comes
from two Japanese words: Rei - universal/ spiritual
consciousness, Ki - Life energy/vital life force**.
Reiki is powerful yet gentle therapy and therefore has
widespread uses. During its long history, almost all
conditions and diseases have been known to benefit from
its use. Multiple sclerosis, heart disease, cancer,
skin conditions, headaches, colds, insomnia, fatigue,
and impotence are a few of the conditions to benefit
from Reiki. In addition, Reiki works to enhance other
types of therapy. Interesting fact: There have been
a number of medical studies showing the positive effects
of Reiki, including improved wound healing, reduced
anxiety in heart patients and promoting an increased
iron level in the blood.
The therapist assesses where the person has blockages
and the healing energy directed to these areas. Negative
thoughts and feelings block the natural flow of Ki (energy).
Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways,
reducing negative thoughts and promoting the body's
own healing. Once Ki is flowing naturally, the parts
of the body affected are able to complete their own
healing process.
| **Vital life force is crucial
for our physical and emotional wellbeing. This non-physical
energy emanates from all living things. Low levels
or a restriction in the flow of life-force energy
leads to an increased susceptibility to illness.
Reiki is the vital life-force energy channelled
through the hands of a therapist attuned to this
energy. |
